Setting up a tent is really not all that difficult to do - that is, it is not terribly difficult, as long as you know what you are doing; but many people go camping and have no clue what they are doing, and they end up spending far too much time (and getting far too frustrated!) trying to set up their tent. If you are going to be taking a camping trip soon, make sure you read on to know how to set up your tent efficiently and effectively.
Pick the spot: One of the biggest considerations will be the spot where you choose to set up your tent, as you must remember that you will be sleeping on the ground underneath the area where you place your tent. The spot you choose for your tent should be as free from rocks and sticks as possible, should be wide enough for your entire tent to fit, and should be perfectly flat (or as close to perfectly flat as you can find).

Position your tent properly: Before you set up your tent, you should decide where you want the entrance to face – keeping in mind where the wind is coming from, where the sun will come up, and where it will be easy to get in and out of your tent.
Erect the tent: Most tents these days can be built without being staked into the ground; if you have such a tent, you should follow the directions exactly to put the tent poles together and thread them through the conduits in the tent, which will get the tent so that it is ready to be raised.
After you have raised the tent, you will still be able to peg it into the ground if you think there might be some heavy wind during the night, and then you will be ready to toss your travel mattress and your sleeping bag into the tent for a long night of relaxing outdoor sleep!
