You may have been dismayed to realize you would be stuck paying over face value for tickets to a concert or sporting event if you waited too long before beginning to look. Websites such as Stub Hub make it easy to still find tickets to such events, but it seems like it is no longer possible to get a good deal. Or at least, this is the way it can seem if you do not know how to find a good deal on Stub Hub.

Stub Hub is a website where people can resell their tickets to others who are wanting to attend the event in question. There are certainly some ticket sellers on Stub Hub who are unloading their tickets because they honestly cannot attend the event, but most ticket sellers are simply trying to make a profit. For a long time, Stub Hub was, in fact, an excellent way for people to make a profit selling tickets, and because of this, there is often a surplus of available tickets for most important events these days. This means that you can still get a great deal on tickets by shopping on Stub Hub, if you know how to shop!

It used to be that Stub Hub let their sellers sell tickets at auction if they wanted, which meant the price of the ticket would keep going up until the final “sell date.” Things have changed at Stub Hub, however, and they no longer accommodate auction sales; instead, sellers can choose to sell at a set price or at a “descending price.” For instance, the last day to sell tickets for an event might be April 30; the seller might have paid $100 per ticket, and might list them at a starting price of $200 per ticket. With a descending price, the ticket price will keep dropping down from $200 as more time passes! So while the ticket price on Stub Hub might be $200 on March 30, it might be down to $150 on April 15. They might be at $100 one week before April 30, and if you wait until just before April 30, you could even get the tickets for below face value!

It is always easiest to purchase tickets early on, through the official ticket retailer; if you wait too long, however, know that you can still get a good deal on Stub Hub if you know how things work!
