If there is a box of old baseball cards taking up space somewhere in your house, you may have thought of simply throwing the box out – or of listing the whole box on eBay and seeing what someone is willing to pay for it. But if you are willing to take a bit of time to sort through the cards yourself, you might actually find that you can sell the cards for a lot more money than you could possibly fetch if you just listed the whole box at once!
The first thing you will need to do, in organizing your baseball cards for sale, is to sort your cards based on who the manufacturer was. If you are lucky, your cards are already grouped this way, but most people – especially those who are sorting through cards they had when they were a kid – find that their cards are grouped by player, or by team, or by position. As you go through your cards, sorting them by manufacturer, make sure you keep your eye out for any that stand out to you as something that might be valuable. Even though the condition of the card is a big element, cards of well-known players – especially if they are rookie cards of well-known players – will usually sell for a lot more than cards of players who are not as well-known.
