Many people dream of someday having a huge library that enables them to walk into a single room and choose from hundreds or even thousands of available books, but what you might not have realized – if this is a dream of yours – is that there are careful considerations you must make in building your personal library. If you have ever thought you might want to have your own library in your home – complete with mountains of books – read on to make sure you are taking the right steps to get you there.
The biggest mistake people who have this dream end up making is that they decide to start collecting early to get ahead of the game, but what ends up happening in the long run is that they move houses several times before they are ready to set up their library, and it eventually gets to be such a hassle to move all these books that they eventually sell them! Before you start building your own library, you need to make sure you are either in the house in which the library will eventually be housed, or that you are close enough to living in “that house” that you do not have to move your books over and over again. The cost of all the books needed to build a personal library also tends to discourage people. Recognize that many of the books you buy will actually do nothing but just sit on the shelf for a long time, taking on shelf ware and looking older as time passes; because of this, you do not need to buy all of your books brand new, as used books will suffice! And finally, one of the big mistakes people make is having no clue what sort of books they want in their library, so they end up with books of all different sizes and genres; consider picking a certain “type” of book for your library, and as you start to collect, you will be able to stick with this idea!No related posts.
